GET TO KNOW ELISSA

Elissa Denton, LCSW, is a Clinician, Coach, and Consultant. As a clinician, she helps people see their patterns and start new ones. As a coach, she helps professionals and leaders bridge the gap between their current reality and their envisioned future. As a consultant, she helps organizations think better and do better when it comes to their most important resource: people.

Elissa created Centerpoint’s Leadership Foundations Series, a professional development experience for new and emerging leaders. She consults with frontline agencies, such as fire districts and health care, to improve the mental health and resilience of frontline workers, blending her expertise in helping individuals and organizations transform.  Elissa has also provided support following critical incidents, including supporting ICU workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and Capitol staff after the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

Her clinical specialties include Somatic and Attachment-focused EMDR and trauma integration, though she draws on and integrates many modalities. She primarily provides clinical services to first responders and their families and people interested in immersive therapeutic experiences.

Elissa has a Master of Social Work from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Middlebury College. She has worked in various settings, including college residential life, wilderness therapy, outdoor education, restorative justice, public health education, and community mental health.

Elissa loves her work and always has a new side project brewing. As a mom of two small children, she’s often seen being pulled (literally!) in two different directions.  She, her kids, and her husband enjoy varied adventures, including cooking, biking, gathering with friends, and even driving across the country (TWICE!) in the past few years (she doesn’t necessarily recommend it!).

"Elissa Denton is an artist in her field, blending creativity, intuition, and remarkable skill in a way that is both inspiring and transformative. The mystery and magic of therapy is something Elissa embodies with ease.

She has an extraordinary ability to combine humor and playfulness with depth and gravity, creating a space where clients feel safe yet challenged to grow.

Whether navigating complex issues or life transitions, Elissa adapts to her client’s needs with remarkable insight and care.

Her approach is a seamless balance of warmth, wisdom, and skill, making her not just a therapist, but an artist who brings the true essence of therapy to life."
